Poker Bankroll- How much do you need?

So, you’re ready to go to the Real Poker tables and you’re not sure how much cash to bring with you.  Well the bad news is there really is no set amount.  Poker Player Sites recommends the following tips for these different limit tables you might wish to play Texas Holdem at.

If you are planning to play a small limit table of say $2/$4.  You can probably get away with buying a stack of $100 worth of chips.  If you’re trying to learn and you can find a $1/$2 limit table consider yourself lucky and sit down.  This will probably be the cheapest way for you to get real life Texas Holdem Poker experience and not get creamed for your whole week’s paycheck!  Remember your wife or husband is going to want to know where the money went!  So make learning cheap until you take some of your lumps.

This $100 might not take you too far in Texas Holdem Poker.  Be ready to lose the whole stack.  Even if you know how to play Texas holdem poker and know your odds it’s not uncommon for you to lose.   The cards just have not come to you yet.   Remember poker players get lucky.  Even though Texas Holdem involves a great deal of calculating odds sometimes luck wins in the short run.

Poker Player Sites recommends a bankroll of about $250-$500 to play at these low limit tables all day.  When learning Texas Holdem Poker remember you have to lose to learn.  You are getting your education!  If you lose a few stacks in one day, Poker Player Sites recommends that you take a break and return when you can calculate your odds more clearly.  Even a pro poker player who is calculating his/ her odds can hit a bad string of cards.  Poker Player Sites recommends that all Texas Holdem players only bet money that they can afford to lose.  Remember you can put the odds in your favor, but you can not force the cards you need to appear.  You always want to save some money to be able to play another day…
